Flare Lighting and Really Creative Media were instructed by Imagination Europe to create the content and design the control system for a bespoke chandelier. Project directors Ben Cash of Flare and Jack James of RCM were responsible for overseeing the LED-display animation on a series of tiered concentric circles suspended at different heights from the ceiling of New Bond Street’s Bonhams auction house.
LED-mapping technology was utilised to illuminate 12,800 LED pixels in over 300 custom LED strips, measuring up to 10m in diameter, each hung above the new Rolls-Royce Phantom in concentric ovals.
The intricacies of the visual design and the time constraints were going to be best served by both lighting and video control merged seamlessly together. This allowed Lighting Designer Jonny Milner of Imagination the freedom of full video content control along side the ability to create beautiful images in a more immediate way when required from the Grand MA2 system.
Blinding Light manufactured and installed the tubes and were also on hand to facilitate the kinetic upward-flying motion of the LED tubes resulting in the dramatic reveal of the new luxury Phantom VIII.
The all-new Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII was revealed at an illustrious event on 27th July to celebrate the car’s 92 year legacy, including a stellar gathering of all seven previous generations of Phantoms in “The Great Eight Phantoms” exhibition.
